An estimated 30 million North Americans used tanning salons in 2006 as a smart and controlled alternative to outdoor tanning. Studies consistently have shown that once indoor tanning customers begin tanning in a professional salon, they are less likely to sunburn than they were before they started tanning. The question arises then as to how much sun exposure is good for each individual. That’s where our knowledgeable tanning experts can counsel you on your tanning needs. Although some people may see a skin tone change after only one or two sessions, most people need 6 - 10 sessions to develop a nice golden tan. It is recommended that you start tanning every other day, or possibly 4 days per week. After you have a good base tan, a couple of tanning sessions per week will have you looking good with a glowing deep tan throughout the year.

  1. Start your tanning for the first two to four weeks in our low intensity tanning beds.

  2. Get a deeper longer lasting tan by moving up to the mid or top level tanning beds after you develop your base tan.

  3. Be sure to use INDOOR tanning lotions every time to intensify your tan. We offer a BIG selection of approved indoor tanning lotions for your purchase, most at a retail price that is less than other salons.

  4. Moisturize with our after tan moisturizers to maintain a beautiful tan while protecting your skin. Most “off the shelf” moisturizers contain oils that actually fade your tan. Be certain you’re using the best moisturizers for tanning!

  5. Ask our experienced staff about products, tanning packages, and timing. If you’re getting ready for a special occasion, please let us know so that we can help you prepare with the correct timing and levels of tanning.

Does tanning indoors have the same effect as tanning outdoors?

YES!, ONLY BETTER!! The advantage to indoor tanning is “control”. You can’t know the strength of the suns rays when tanning outdoors, but indoor tanning at Tan Aloha offers a controlled UV exposure so that you’ll have a healthy looking tan without burning. Being outside in the sun long enough to burn is very damaging to your skin.

Developing your tan indoors is much safer, more even, and will help to protect you if you are out in the sun.
